Description
Continuing the tradition of previous conventions, three Austin architects will present a candid narrative of designing and building their own homes. Some of the topics addressed will include: creating additions that preserve the historic character of a neighborhood; how to address moisture problems and energy improvements in a historic landmark; and the challenges of restoring a 100-year-old structure and adapting it to new standards of living. The architects will also discuss what it’s like standing in the shoes of the client and engaging in construction from a new perspective. Attendees can also sign up for a separate tour following this session that will visit the three houses discussed (see Tour 949).
