STG Design, with Clayton & Little
Join us for a tour of the Seaholm Redevelopment, which is anchored by the Seaholm Power Plant, one of Austin’s iconic buildings and a Texas Historical Landmark. The 1950s-era building was recently transformed for public and commercial use while maintaining its historic integrity and character. The design architect on the project was STG Design. Clayton&Little served as the preservation architect.
In addition to the transformation of the former power plant, a two-story retail and office building, a three-story underground parking structure, and a 30-story residential high-rise have been constructed on the site, creating a unique, shared Seaholm Plaza. Sustainable best practices were incorporated in each component of the overall development through the collaboration, commitment, and diligence of the entire design team, construction contractors, development partners, and the City. What was once an underutilized urban site has been redeveloped into a large-scale, adaptive re-use, creating a dynamic and energized destination.
*Courses marked "SD" may qualify for Sustainable Design for the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners.
